As a reminder that all hasn’t been bad in 2020, here’s five of the things I’ve enjoyed:
Walking and Running
If, like me, going for a walk or run is one of life’s pleasures then I count myself fortunate indeed because even the strictest lockdown did not stop us doing what we love. On the contrary daily exercise was encouraged. Furthermore we had weeks of fabulous weather to enjoy it.
Silly Challenges
I’ve enjoyed getting a bit more creative about keeping active and encouraging all of you to keep active too. Our midsummer virtual relay was an absolute hoot as was the SE Fitness Bingo!
New Routes
2020 challenges forced us to think differently about our routes and sessions. Round the outside on the inside or the ‘lockdown loop’ proved a particular favourite for many and we managed to drag speedwork away from the track and enjoyed some amazing late summer evenings in Sutton Park.
1-2-1s
There’s been a couple of times this year when we’ve only been allowed out 1-2-1. The 1-2-1s gave me an opportunity to really talk to and get to know people better than I would normally in a group. I got a lot out of the 1-2-1s so thank you to everyone who joined me!
Friends
Friends have helped me through 2020, we’ve had to be more creative about what we do and where we do it but it hasn’t stopped us being there for one another and having fun. I know I’m not the only one to think so. Leaders tell me that our Bubble Groups, which were formed in response to a problem, have become a source of mutual support, good humour and friendship.
I hope you too can look back on 2020 and find something to smile about! xxx
