Don’t forget this Saturday 19th December is our all NEW Christmas 5K Time Challenge.

A chance to earn points towards the Grand Prix.  Walkers and Runners ALL WELCOME.  Normal fees apply.

Afterwards Tea, Coffee and Mince Pies under the Gazebo so bring along your Christmas Jumper to keep you warm and some change for the pot!  All donations go to MS Trust.

MEET FROM 8.30 UNDER THE GAZEBO BY THE VISITOR CENTRE

Cost:                Regular fees apply. None member just £3 to take part. Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

EVERYONE WELCOME

If you can’t make the Saturday then come along on Friday 18^th and do the Time Challenge in place of normal groups.

GRAND PRIX

10 POINTS awarded to fastest man and fastest woman over both days. 9 points for second fastest, 8 for third and so on.

AFTERWARDS

On Saturday we will serve Tea, Coffee and Mince Pies afterwards under the Gazebo. So please bring your Christmas Hat / Jumper to keep you warm and join us! Any donations will go to Charity.

• On both dates there will be one Run Plus leader available for anyone who does not want to take part and go for a longer run.
• Only the WALKING GROUP will go ahead as normal on Saturday 19^th. We hope you can still join us for a Festive Mince Pie afterwards!

Penultimate week for everyone training for the Great Birmingham Run.  We’re all tired, we all ache and we are all well outside our comfort zone but take heart runners after this week there is only one more long run to go!

Same route as last week but add on 1 mile at the Jamboree Memorial by running down to the horse box car park and back again.  Julie Dodd and I will be there with the sweets and drinks.  Supporting you every step of the way.

Here’s Saturday morning run regular Graham Mills (on right) with his mate Steve Cartmel running the Dublin Half Marathon.  Graham finished in 1 hour 44.  Who does their FIRST half marathon that quickly?   Congratulations!

Apparently the Dublin half marathon is a lot of fun and someone has suggested we make it the venue for the first SE Fitness Overseas Tour!  How’s that sound anyone?!!

Action shots from this morning’s half marathon training.  Over 9 miles done in the rain.  Pretty miserable for those of us on the bikes!

Well done everyone.  Nice soak in the bath, rehydrate and eat well – you need protein to help repair those muscles.

Glad to see my buddy Justine Richards – we originally did the Birmingham Half Marathon together to ‘celebrate’ the year we turned 40!  Thanks to Tony Ellis and Sarah-Jane for travelling a long way to join us.

Here is the route for Saturday 12th September.  Same as last week but at the Jamboree Stone run all the way to Streetly Gate and back again.  I’ve run it this morning and it is over 9 miles but hopefully that will make the big jump to 10.5 miles a bit easier – here’s hoping anyway!  Brand new route next week.

Gentle reminder for SE Fitness regulars there is a small extra charge of £1 to your normal Go Monthly Fee for joining in the Half Marathon Training.

So many of you had great races at the weekend don’t forget to let me have your times so that I can work out the points.  The next  Autumn Grand Prix Events are:  Lichfield 10K Sunday 13th September, Cinder Path 11th October and Birmingham Half Marathon 18th October (this is a Grand Slam Event with 10 Points up for grabs).  Good luck!

Meanwhile over in the park at the City of Birmingham Triathlon series many more SE Fitness Runners were out there winning medals.

This is Paul Franks and Brendan Hearne, two of our Fun to Runners, as they finished the 5K race – a mere stepping stone in their ultimate goal to finish the Fun Run next year.  Guys you look INCREDIBLE in those tops!

SE Fitness were also out in force in the 10K challenge.  With Leaders Michelle Stammers and Jess Morgan finishing in great times and here is Speedwork regular Sam Hynes crossing the line.

A beautiful morning for our first two Grand Prix Events and so many FABULOUS SE Fitness Runners out there.

Mary Hobin (pictured left) WON her age category in the Little Aston 5 mile in under 40 minutes.

In the same event Mike Stanley (Good old Mike) WON the over 70’s category.

WOW!  Well done everyone.  SE Fitness is running for fitness not competition but it turns out if you love doing something you do it a lot and you get pretty good at it!!
