It’s with a glad heart I announce that our early evening groups will be back in Sutton Park this week. For some of our runners this can be the first time they’ve run cross country in a while (first time ever for some of our new runners) and it is different to running on the road. I would love to avoid a spate of slips, trips and falls this Spring so here’s some tips to consider:
- Take it steady – it’s OK to slow down until you get used to the new terrain.
- Scan ahead – there is a temptation to look directly down at your feet – DON’T! Aim to look about 6 feet ahead planning for hazards – impossible if you are too close to the person in front.
- Faster groups – please be gentle as you overtake us! There is something very unnerving about the sound of heavy breath and heavy steps charging up on you from behind!
- Lift up your knees and your feet – Michelle is demonstrating beautifully in this photo from the Wolf Run – knees up, toes up all the way to the end.
