Jane Rogers
I was talking to Jane at the Walkers Outing and here she is on the left with her great friend and SE Walk Leader Deb Roberts.
Jane has joined SE Fitness Walking groups in January 2007 because her GP advised more exercise for her back problem. Jane is a regular at our Monday evening walk group and also walks the school run twice a week with her grandchildren, swims 3 times per week and spends half an hour every week in strength training.
The strength training started as rehabilitation because Jane had both her hips replaced a couple of years ago. Before the operation Jane was really struggling to walk, even supported with sticks and was in a lot of pain. She’s now stepping out in fine style and is also looking very agile. I saw her climb over a stile on the walk and got her leg over with no problem whatsoever! Jane’s personal trainer has now increased Jane’s programme to include deadlift 20Kg weight for 20 reps.
Jane said “I could barely lift a bag of sugar before! On my first walk out with SE Fitness after my new hips and without sticks I fell over. I wasn’t hurt but was worried that I’d lost my new glasses! The strength training has helped me much more than I ever anticipated. I’m stronger but also more stable and more agile. I would highly recommend it to everyone, especially as you get older.”
