Getting to know……. Peter “Action Man” Glover!
Regular SE Fitness Walker Peter Glover joined SE Fitness in October 2016 after picking up a flyer while visiting the gym.
“I had never walked in a group before and wanted to see if it suited me as I have always been a runner but after many years of playing squash and running, I thought I should give my knees a little consideration and walking has turned out to be an excellent alternative exercise. My weekly routine that I try to stick to is ; Monday and Thursday Gym. Tuesday Swimming. Wednesday Walking. Friday Scuba Diving and the weekend maybe a bike ride. I have been a Scuba diving Instructor since 2013 and still teach students whenever necessary. (Wyndley Scuba are offering a free trial to any SE Fitness members who would like to give it a go).
I haven’t any particular plan for the future except to keep a reasonable level of fitness so I can pursue my favourite hobby which is Scuba Diving. Last year my goal was to complete more open water dives than I had ever done before in one year which I managed by diving 145 dives both around the UK and Overseas! My wife and I also like to travel so we need to keep active and mobile which in itself is a good motivator.
I managed the Sutton Fun run again for the second year running after a break of 7 years, just to see if I could still get around it and manage a few pints afterwards in the Station!
I have to say that the SE walking and running club has been a great motivator for me since I finished work as well as making new friends with plenty of social activities. You always do more exercise when in a group rather than on your own.
My top tip is that exercise should be part of normal every day life and sometimes you won’t feel like it but afterwards you always feel better!
