Getting to know ….Michelle Price
With so many new runners joining us this January I thought it would be good to hear from someone who has been through the C25K process! Michelle (photo left) and husband Rob (centre) joined us last year and this photo was taken after their first ever 5K event – the Mo Run!
What made you start?
I decided to give C25K a go as a personal challenge as I am approaching 55, very inactive and putting on weight. I chose SE Fitness as it is nice and local and had good write ups on Facebook.
How do you feel now?
I feel really proud of what I have achieved since the start of September. I couldn’t run for a bus when I started and now I have just completed my first 5k park run!!
The best bit about the programme is the patience and support of the network. As the slowest in the group I was encouraged by both the leaders and my fellow joggers. Everyone cheered me on and kept me going throughout. The hardest part was to conquer my technique and breathing. When I struggled with the distance I was made to feel that it was OK to walk it out when I needed to, I was never pressured to go beyond my capability.
Top Tip
My best tip for anyone who wants to get started is to join the SE Fitness family. It is a lovely supportive club where everyone really is accepted no matter where you are on your journey. It’s a great way to meet like minded people who spur you on and It is much more fun to run in a group. The group gels as people start to get get to know each other. It really works.
What’s Next?
My immediate future goal is to work on my speed, technique and comfortably run a whole 5k including hills without stopping!!
