Depending on your goal this Autumn tomorrow you may want your last long run for half marathon training. That’s great as we have a 12.5 mile route planned. Since there was so much moaning about the route last week I have used the 10 mile route as a base and worked from there!
If you are entered Great Birmingham Run or any other half marathon which is next weekend then you want a TAPER run tomorrow. This should be about 6 miles. I have planned out a 6 mile route for you which starts the same as the other one but turns back sooner.
Meet in SE Fitness HQ as normal. This is your last chance to rehearse fuel, kit and other essential preparation so bring your stuff with you. See you in the morning!
Quick Route Description
From the track run back along the cycle path and into the park over the small bridge by the ford. Go straight up until you reach a junction of paths take a sharp right and run down the road back towards Visitor Centre and bear left towards the Toby carvery. Turn right and run all the way up to Hartopp Gate and then left and all the way to the Bracebridge sign where you retrace your steps as far as railway bridge. Here turn right and run past the bistro and back to carvery. Head past donkey sanctuary and up to Jamboree Memorial. For shorter route you turn sharp left and head home , turning left at the next crossroads down the hill and back to Wyndley.
For the longer route from the Jamboree carry on to Streetly Gate and back. Next there is another little out and back to the top of Hill of Doom and back. Finally you follow the others on the right hand fork. At the cross roads you turn right, all the way to Banners Gate where you run out of the park and home along Monmouth Drive. At Wyndley add on one more mile by continuing past Wyndley, into the park at Town Gate then follow the road up and over and back to Wyndley Ford.
