SE Fitness half marathon training is back! It’s been a while, this photo from 2019. We start on Saturday 7th August with 6 miles.
I’m conscious that with deferred events SE Fitness runners are aiming for various different dates this year. For that reason and to try and make the half marathon training less intense and thereby reduce the risk of injury the training is over a longer period but with a drop down week every three weeks. Roughly I am aiming for half marathon on 10 October which is the date of Great Birmingham Run, Bournemouth and Palma but the easier weeks give some flexibility for those with an earlier date in mind.
The training dates are as follows:
- 7 August 6 miles
- 14 August 8 miles
- 21 August 9 miles
- 28 August 6 miles
- 4 September 10 miles
- 11 September 11 miles
- 18 September 8 miles
- 25 September 12 miles
- 2 October 6 miles (Taper week)
The training is aimed at anyone who can already run 6 miles comfortably. Please note due to change in circumstance all leaders will probably be running with the training (there will not be bicycle support) so anyone wishing to train with us should carry their own water and fuel for the longer runs. Ideally I would like to take some of the longer runs to new places Newhall Valley or local quiet lanes but this will depend on leader availability on the day. If you do not wish to train for a half marathon then C25K and 5K plus groups will continue on Saturdays as normal. Run Fit 2 and Run plus groups will always have the option to run a shorter route than the training plan.
I am looking forward to our Autumn training SE Fitness, I for one really need that motivation to improve my own fitness! Here’s to events back on the calendar and training together again.
