Kate’s gardening tip was well-received last week and, in fact, Paul Brittan wrote in to ask what to do about his lawn which was destroyed from all the ‘lockdown’ football. After a week of Joe Wicks ours isn’t looking to clever either.
SE Leader and retired gardener Malcolm Payne provided me with this week’s advice:
“If want your lawn to survive this crisis, please don’t emulate Russell Knight’s latest Xtreme Event. Your lawn will not thank you if you run 363 laps of your garden! (Although I suppose it depends on how big your garden is).
Instead why not give your core a good workout by raking out the moss with a wire (spring tine if you want to get technical!) rake which has no doubt accumulated over the wet winter. Ideally in a few weeks time you would then sprinkle grass seed over any bare patches, but that might prove difficult to get hold of at the moment.”
Kate tells me our lawns will recover when all this is over so perhaps not worry too much about it at the moment.
