If you’re training for an event this Autumn, it is important to have a plan in mind to make sure you arrive at the start line well prepared and confident but not knackered!
Last year I was training for a sprint triathlon and the run was three laps of a one mile loop so someone suggested that, ideally, in training I should be practicing running one mile laps. I agreed that this would be the ‘ideal’. The problem is that I don’t want to run three, one mile laps so the answer as far as I’m concerned is to go for a run in the park – same distance but on trails which is what I enjoy. I only faced the three lap thing on the day itself.
This is the key thing about training plans guys! There is the ideal training plan and then there is the training plan you actually do. The one you do is always going to beat the perfect plan that is pinned to the kitchen wall but doesn’t get done!
